Vectorman's graphics got gamers to put down the new PlayStation pads and pick up their classic SEGA controllers one more time. Its use of color, its fluid animation, its over-the-top explosions that shake the entire screen - it's undeniable that Vectorman pushed the power of the Genesis to the extreme, and fans in the '90s took notice. And, also like Donkey Kong Country, Vectorman found that success through the primary appeal of its visuals. Like Donkey Kong Country, Vectorman was successful in achieving its goal. As a late-generation release for the Genesis, it was a title that sought to extend the platform's relevance as gamers were already moving on to other, more powerful hardware systems - an ambition also shared by Donkey Kong Country, which aimed to do the same thing for the SNES. Vectorman is an action/platformer that first came to SEGA's 16-bit Genesis 13 years ago.
